5 Minutes with Margaret De Heinrich De Omorovicza

Celebrating International Women’s Day, we’ve put together a Women in Beauty series delving into the lives of inspirational women heading up the beauty industry. Co-founder of skincare brand Omorovicza,  Margaret De Heinrich De Omorovicza, shares which women have inspired her, her biggest struggle and what advice she’d give to her younger self.

What was it that inspired you to create Omorovicza?

When Stephen and I started to date – he would take me to the Hungarian healing waters, in particular the one his family built hundreds of years ago.   He shared with me these waters’ history, how the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius noticed that his wounded soldiers’ skin would recover extremely quickly as they waded into the bubbling springs.

There are numerous enchanting stories like that but what got me going back to these healing springs was the effect they had on my very troubled skin.  It was rather miraculous.  It was this sense of wonder coupled with a strong Omorovicza family heritage of belief in the waters’ curative powers, that inspired us to create Omorovicza.

What is your all time favourite Omorovicza product? – your Desert island product?!

My all time favourite Omorovicza product is our Rejuvenating Night Cream.

What achievement are you most proud of, in work and life?

In Life…it is our four children and in work, it is helping to create a brand I’m incredibly proud of.

What woman has had the most influence in your life? Or who is the woman you most admire?

My mother has had the most impact on my life as she taught me the lesson that you are never to young or too old to follow your dreams.

What has been your biggest struggle?

Balancing home and work.

What do you think women need to do more of, and less of?

It is difficult to generalize but for me, I think we all need to learn how to not be so hard on ourselves.

What gives you strength?

Meditation, exercise, work and family.

What do you do for fun?

I spend time with my family, travel, listen to music, visit art galleries, cook, sail and read.

What life advice would you give to your younger self?

If I could, I would give her a huge hug but not say a thing – as any struggles or worries I had, have made me who I am and I would not change a thing.  Thus far, it has been a wonderful adventure and I so hope that it continues in future.

What is the best thing about being a woman?

It is such an exciting time to be a woman and to raise daughters in 2019.

What are your goals for the year ahead?

The list is long but my top priority for 2019 is to live life with intention.

If you ruled the world for one day, what universal law would you put in place?

I would put up huge screens in every city and connect us all with a universal message of love and most importantly acceptance.
