5 Minutes with Harriet Inglis

Celebrating International Women’s Day, we’ve put together a Women in Beauty series delving into the lives of inspirational women heading up the beauty industry.  Founder of well-being brand Spacemasks,  Harriet Inglis shares who has influenced her life, what gives her strength and what she would ban if she ruled the world for a day.

What was it that inspired you to create Spacemasks?

I wanted to create something to help us all to take some much needed time out of our hectic lifestyles.

What achievement are you most proud of, in work and life?

We’re quite chuffed with our 4 daughters and Spacemasks are helping a great many people feel more relaxed.

What woman has had the most influence in your life? Or who is the woman you most admire?

My late mother; she was a widow at the age of 36, diagnosed with breast cancer at 41 and died at 48.  She never grumbled and was adored by every single person she ever met.

What has been your biggest struggle?

I fear it is the old cliche of switching off in the evenings and at weekends.  I’m not very good at it.

What do you think women need to do more of, and less of?

Sleep more and swim more. Be less image conscious.

What gives you strength?

The CBT (Cognitive behavioural therapy) I had aged 22 when my mother died.

What do you do for fun?

Cuddle my dogs or go for a facial.  Or have lunch with The Groom at Mr Chow.

What life advice would you give to your younger self?

Be polite and that people are lazy – always and try and make things easier for people.

What is the best thing about being a woman?

Growing a baby.  I’ve had 4 and it’s miraculous.

What are your goals for the year ahead?

Stay healthy, happy, swim more, spend more time by the sea and switch off more.

If you ruled the world for one day, what universal law would you put in place?

I’d ban chewing gum….
