We asked Adam, our in-house Kérastase Expert from the Gorgeous Salon, to reveal his haircare heroes and top tips.

If you’ve ever used Kérastase, you’ll know the incredible results it gives. Every time.

Since 1964, Kérastase has set the standard when it comes to luxury hair care. By following their Bathe, Care, Treat and Protect regime they have created bespoke ranges for all hair concerns. Their unique fragrances and sensual textures recreate that salon-feel at-home.

We caught up with Adam, our in-house Kérastase expert, to reveal what he loves about hairdressing and which Kérastase he recommends.

Tell us about your hairdressing journey?

“With almost 30 years in the industry I have experience in many aspects of the industry, from competition work, photoshoots and educating but I get the most satisfaction from my clients and creating great hair that they love!”

What do you love most about your job?

“Building a relationship and friendship with my clients while creating great hair.”

What do you love about Kérastase?

“The quality of the products and in turn it creates good quality hair. It does what it says its going to do. They’re products I trust and love.”

What’s so special about the in-salon consultation?

“When you are receiving the correct advise and haircare plan, the results are much quicker to see and anything is achievable. The diagnostic camera enables you to truly access the hair and tackle the problem head on.”

Which in-salon treatment do you love?

It’s my go-to when a client wants an instant hair transformation.

“Without a doubt, it has to be the Fusio-Dose treatment.

The bespoke treatment is tailored specifically to your hair’s needs and concerns – Whether you want moisture but also colour protection, strengthen and also fullness or protect from frizz and hair breakage. There are 20 possible combinations to give you the results you want.”

What’s your all-time favourite Kérastase product?

“I absolutely love the Densifique Mousse, it doesn’t overload the hair and gives a great hold and finish without a product feel.”

What is a great all-rounder product that everyone loves?

Nectar Thermique because everyone’s hair needs moisture at some point but more importantly the heat protection.”

What are you top tips and products for the best blow-dry?

“It has to be using a combination of the Kérastase Densifique Mousse & one of the Thermiques.

Lift the hair and dry the roots thoroughly while lifted, use a nozzle to direct the air from root to tip to get that salon smooth, shiny finish.

Make sure the hair is thoroughly dry. Blow-dry your fringe first to avoid it drying out of shape, especially if you have a cowslick.”

How do you recommend protecting hair from frizz?

“The Kérastase Discipline is the perfect antidote for fighting frizz.

The Discipline Fluidissime Leave-In is perfect for fine hair and creates a weightless finish but still feels smooth and sleek. Spray evenly and comb from root to tip on damp hair and blow dry in. Finish with a serum or an oil through the ends.”

What’s your favourite product to nourish dry ends?

“As the season’s change, you might find your hair needing a bit more nourishment. Especially if you are colouring and heat styling too.

Kérastase Crème Magistral gives you ultimate nourishment and moisture, instantly transforming dry ends and leaving them silky-smooth.

It’s also great to scrunch into your curls on dry hair to boost them and give them a new lease of life.”

What’s your top tip to get that salon-worthy shine at home?

“Invest in a good hair dryer. I love the ghd Helios that we use in the salon.

Lift the hair and dry the roots thoroughly while lifted, use a nozzle to direct the air from root to tip to get that salon smooth, shiny finish.

Finish your hair with one of the Kérastase Elixir Ultimes. It gives incredible shine and smoothness. The oil also envelops your hair with a long-lasting fragrance, so you’ll feel like you’ve stepped out of the salon every morning!”

Who are your hairdresser influences?

“Adam Reed, he makes it all look so easy and non fussy. He also seems to be a genuinely lovely guy.”

What advice would you give to anyone wanting to become a hairdresser?

“Don’t be scared of the hard work the satisfaction of a happy client & putting a smile on their face is worth it.”
