Katherine Chambers

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we're taking a look at how aromatherapy and essential oils can help boost the wellbeing of those affected by the disease.

Before we begin, it’s important to clarify that as much as we’d love them to, essential oils cannot cure cancer. There’s no scientific evidence to prove that aromatherapy can cure or prevent any type of disease. Aromatherapy can, however, help ease the side effects of cancer treatment and support your wellbeing.

Boosting Energy

It’s no secret that cancer treatment can be both physically and mentally draining. Tisserand‘s Eucalyptus, Rosemary and citrus oils are perfect for helping to combat fatigue and boost energy.

Tisserand even has a vibrant Energy blend, combining a mix of stimulating oils to revive the senses. This comes in a diffuser oil too, perfect for adding to your burner, diffuser or Aroma Spa to boost the energy in the room.

Aiding Sleep

We all know how important sleep is to help the body heal. Aromatherapy is a natural way to help aid relaxation and in turn, help you sleep. Known for calming mind and body, Lavender is a classic sleep-boosting scent. Vetiver is also a great go-to for helping to stabilise the mind, furthermore Tisserand’s award-winning Sweet Dreams blend expertly combines Lavender, Sandalwood and Jasmine to aid sleep, and comes in a handy pillow spray format too.

Lifting Mood

There’s no denying that positive thinking is key, whatever the situation in life. Not only will staying positive help your recovery, furthermore it will keep your mind clear. If you’re in need of a mood bost, Bergamot is a beautifully uplifting scent and Frankincense is ideal for de-stressing the mind.

If you’re feeling low, why not try Tisserand’s Happy Vibes blend? Formulated with euphoric bergamot oil, energising grapefruit oil and uplifting lime oil, it comes in a pulse point roller ball which can be applied directly to the body to help relieve every day tensions.

Relieving Anxiety

When you’re feeling drained, you’re even more likely to feel worried and anxious. Aromatherapy can help with this too. Petitgrain works to refresh and boost positivity when your feeling anxious, and Geranium can help calm tension. Tisserand even have a De-Stress blend, combining different anxiety-easing essential oils to consequently help relieve the mind. The De-Stress blend even comes in a bath oil formula, perfect for treating yourself to a relaxing soak.
