From mothers and grandmothers to sisters and friends, the advice we receive from the women in our lives shapes the way we live ours.

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2018, at Gorgeous HQ we’ve been discussing the great words great women in our lives have shared with us. From beauty advice to tips on how to live a happy live, #TeamGorgeous share a few of their favourites below.

Life Advice

Daisy, Creative Digital Design Executive

As I was brought up by just my mum, she always made sure I knew that whatever a man could do, a woman could do too. I never even realised there was gender inequality until I was older. She showed me that there’s nothing you have to rely on a man for & to be a strong, independent woman! (insert sassy emoji here….haha).’

Katherine, Digital Content Executive

‘My grandma is full of words of wisdom. She’s a couple of years into her nineties now, so if anyone knows what life’s all about, it’s her. She once said to me, love, that’s the answer, and I’ve had it saved as a note in my phone ever since! I can’t for the life of me remember what we were talking about though.’

Jess, Head of Content

‘My mum doesn’t see the point in wasting your time doing something if it makes you unhappy. She said to me, never do something if it isn’t going to make you happy. I try to remember this advice in every aspect of my life, from career paths to menu choices.’

Ruth, Customer Services

‘A bit of cheesy advise but my mum told me once to never lose sight of who you are, and it’s always stuck in my head!’

Olivia, Customer Services

‘My mum once told me you can do anything that you want if you put your mind to it.’

Beauty Tips

Clare, Marketing & Content Coordinator

‘My mum said to always use a good moisturiser and keep your skin hydrated.’

Jess, Head of Content

‘A beauty therapist told me, your eyebrows are sisters, not twins. Which I took to mean don’t obsess too much about getting your eyebrows identical, because you’ll probably go far and look like Gwen Stefani circa 2000. No offense to Gwen.’

Daisy, Creative Digital Design Executive

‘My top tip is to learn about skincare as young as you possibly can! I spent many years buying skincare that was ‘supposed’ to help my skin but just kept making it much worse. When I started to read beauty blogs and chat with beauty therapists I learnt so much about how I should be really treating my skin & what products would actually help.’

Olivia, Customer Services

‘My beauty advice would be that it doesn’t matter how late it gets always take your make up off before bed!’

Ruth, Customer Services

‘My best beauty advise is smothering my lips in Burts Bees lip balm every night before bed!’
