Below are some of our favourite DIY treatments for an affordable, organic solution from head to toe. So, dim the lights, relax and let the pamper session commence.

Skin-saving blueberry face mask

During the summer months, our skin can be exposed to harmful UV rays which can cause lines and pigment damage. This natural face mask will help restore moisture and provide antioxidant-rich nourishment, packed with vitamins C and E.

Simply mash or blend ten blueberries and combine with one tablespoon of natural yoghurt. Spread evenly over your face and wash off with warm water after 15 minutes.

Fitness magazine says, ‘Yogurt’s lactic acid helps exfoliate the UV-damaged layers of the epidermis’. Your skin will be left feeling moisturised, fresh and smelling delicious!’

Effortless body scrub

You may have body scrubs stocked up in your bathroom cupboards from various Christmas gifts gone by. These often contain chemicals and harsh fragrances that can cause your skin to dry out. If you want a natural alternative, making your skin treatments is super easy.

The main ingredients for any organic body scrub are sugar, oil and a fragrance element such as essential oils. The key to a perfect consistency is to use 80% sugar and 20% oil.

Play around with different scent combinations for different effects. White sugar and coconut oil with a few drops of lime essential oil gives a fresh feel and acts as a natural exfoliator and moisturiser. Brown sugar works brilliantly with olive oil and ½ cup of coffee granules for a cellulite busting scrub. Get creative and get polished!

Detox body wrap

Now that your skin is exfoliated and smooth, you can give yourself an at-home body wrap. These wraps often boast weight losses of inches around the stomach and claim detoxification and skin tightening. If you are apprehensive about being wrapped up in cellophane by a complete stranger, we suggest you try it in the comfort of your own home first!

The wrap works by confining heat to certain spaces on your body, making them sweat out the water and toxins. For a total detox, take 1 cup Epsom salt, 4 cups warm water and three tablespoons olive oil. Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil.

·         Mix the water and salt in the sink, ensuring the water is hot enough to dissolve it. Once dissolved, soak a sheet in the water

·         Massage the olive and rosemary oil solution on to your skin

·         Wring out the sheet and wrap it around yourself like a bath towel with head and arms free to move about

·         Wrap cling film around the outside of the sheet to keep in the heat. Don’t wind too tight or it will be too constrictive

·         Lay down on an old blanket and cover yourself with another one to keep warm

You should leave the wrap on for an hour, so make sure to do it when you have time and no distractions. Remember to relax! Pop some cucumber on your eyes and put on some peaceful music to de-stress.

After the hour, remove the wrap and take a room temperature shower to rinse the oil away. Remember to moisturise when you get out the shower and prepare to feel like a new person.

Fresh foot treatments

Our feet work seriously hard every day, but we often forget to care for them. For tired and achy feet, there’s nothing better at the end of the day than a rewarding soak.

Take ¾ cup Epsom salt, ¼ cup baking soda, the contents of 2 peppermint tea bags and six drops of peppermint essential oil and mix in a bowl. You will only need half of this mixture for one soak so store the rest in a mason jar until you want to use it again. Add to hot water and soak your feet for 15-20 minutes. Voila! Fresh feet at the ready.
