Are Medik8 Products Actually Good? I Tried Them So You Don’t Have To

Let’s be real for a second: skincare is overwhelming. There’s always a “holy grail” retinol or a “miracle” serum trending on TikTok, and half the time I’m not even sure what my skin actually needs. But when a brand like Medik8 keeps popping up – with glowing reviews from dermatologists and editors and Hailey Bieber (?!), I figured it was time to investigate.

So, I did the thing: committed to a full Medik8 routine for a month. Yes, I broke up with my usual mix of high-street and bougie products and went monogamous with one brand. Scary. But spoiler alert: it was worth it.

Here’s everything I found – the good, the “meh,” and the products I’m already repurchasing.

So… What Is Medik8, and Why Is Everyone Obsessed?

Medik8 is a UK-based, science-backed skincare brand that’s actually dermatologist-approved (not just influencer-hyped). It was started in 2009 by a scientist – which is probably why everything feels super results-driven without being over-complicated or overly harsh.

It’s also B Corp certified, meaning they care about sustainability, ethics, and all that good stuff. Points for clean girl energy!

The CSA Philosophy

The brand’s whole thing is the CSA Philosophy – and before you roll your eyes at another skincare acronym, this one actually makes sense.

C = Vitamin C (for antioxidant protection & glow)

S = SPF (obviously, your daily UV shield)

A = Vitamin A (aka retinol/retinal, for cell renewal while you sleep)

You do C + S in the morning, A at night. That’s it. It’s so straightforward I actually stuck to it. (If you know me, that’s a miracle.)

Let’s Talk Products: The Ones I Loved And Liked

Here are the standouts from my all-Medik8 month!

Crystal Retinal – The One That Changed the Game

Price: £45 | Verdict: Worth every penny

This is Medik8’s most hyped product and yeah – the hype is real. It uses retinaldehyde, which is like retinol’s cooler, more efficient cousin. It works faster and somehow still doesn’t irritate my very reactive skin.

They have a ladder system (from strength 1 to 24), so you can ease in slowly. I started with Crystal Retinal 3 and noticed smoother texture, faded acne scars, and a kind of glow-from-within look I haven’t had since my pre-coffee-addiction days.

C-Tetra Advanced – The Glow Booster

Price: £69 | Verdict: Sensitive-skin friendly and effective

This vitamin C serum is one of the very few that didn’t sting or break me out. It’s got 20% vitamin C, so it packs a punch, but the formula is super gentle. My skin tone evened out, and my face looked noticeably brighter within a week.

Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream – The One That Got an Award

Price: £48 | Verdict: Genuinely the best night cream I’ve tried

This little pot of magic scored 88/100 in lab tests and was named the best night cream in the UK, and I get it. It’s lightweight but somehow still deeply hydrating. My skin felt bouncy in the morning. I’ve already re-ordered it. Twice.

Liquid Peptides Advanced MP – The Smooth Operator

Price: £79 | Verdict: Pricey, but instant results

It claims to smooth fine lines in 10 minutes. And listen – I don’t know if it was placebo or peptide magic, but my forehead did look smoother immediately. If you’re in your 20s and starting to notice faint little lines, this is a solid pre-emptive strike.

Press & Glow Toner – The Surprisingly Gentle Exfoliator

Price: £32 | Verdict: My new toner crush

I’ve had beef with toners in the past (hello, alcohol burns), but this one uses PHA instead of AHAs, meaning it exfoliates without making my face cry. I used it morning and night with no irritation, and it helped my vitamin A absorb better too.

Advanced Day Ultimate Protect SPF 50+ – The Multitasker

Price: £59 | Verdict: A luxurious SPF that feels like skincare

I used this every morning. It’s an SPF and a moisturiser and a pollution/blue-light shield. And it actually sits well under makeup (a rarity for SPF 50). Not the cheapest, but girl math says it’s three products in one, so…

Real Talk: Is Medik8 Worth the Hype?

Short answer: Yes.

Here’s my honest breakdown:

Best value: Crystal Retinal (results = real)

Bit of a splurge: Liquid Peptides (but delivers)

Underrated gem: Ceramide Eye Cream – works like a mini eye lift

Frequently Asked Questions I Had (And Now Have Answers To)

Can sensitive skin use Medik8?

Yes! I have rosacea-prone skin and experienced zero flare-ups. Just go slow with the vitamin A stuff.

What’s the difference between retinol and retinal?

Retinal (used in Crystal Retinal) is one step closer to active retinoic acid, so it works faster and tends to be gentler. Win-win.

Do the products work fast?

Honestly? I saw glow and hydration in the first week, and my post-breakout marks were way less noticeable by week 4.

Is it worth replacing my entire routine with Medik8?

Not necessary, but a few hero products (especially Crystal Retinal and their SPF) are 100% worth slotting into your routine.
